The Houston Senior Center.

The Houston Senior Center has implemented a new program to help assure the well-being of local residents ages 60-and-over.

The Telephone Reassurance program is designed for volunteers to place a friendly check-in call to seniors on a weekly basis to help fight loneliness and allow them to stay connected.

“It’s more than a phone call,” said SeniorAge Center Lead Stephania Roeder. “It’s comfort, companionship and a reminder that someone cares. Connection matters. That is really what our TR program is all about – staying connected.”

The Senior Center currently has 91 people on a list to be called each week.

For more information, call Roeder at 417-967-4119.
