A Summersville woman was injured Monday night when her vehicle struck a deer on Route 17 about two miles north of her hometown, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Tpr. Benjamin Swink said a northbound 2018 Ford Taurus driven by a 44-year-old driver struck the animal at about 5:45 p.m.

The driver, who was wearing a seat belt, was taken by Mercy EMS to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

The vehicle had extensive damage.
