Houston, Cabool and Texas County all saw sales tax revenue collection increases in 2025, according to reports from the Missouri Department of Revenue.

HOUSTON

A one-cent sales tax earmarked for parks, police and fire generated $86,104 in December, up $3,990 from the same period a year ago. 

A one-cent general sales tax increased $7,142, totaling $92,644.

Two quarter-cent sales taxes for utility work and transportation totaled $21,526 each. 

A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $374, totaling $16,776 for the month.

In 2025, Houston collected $2,701,748 in sales tax revenue. That is a 3.9 percent increase from the $2,599,988 collected in 2024.

CABOOL

A one-cent general sales tax totaled $34,291, up $10,857 from the same period a year ago.

A half-cent sales tax for transportation needs was up $5,428, totaling $17,146 in December. 

A half-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $17,055 for the month.

A use tax applied to online and out-of-state purchases increased $3,536, totaling $13,228.

In 2025, Cabool collected $951,465 in sales tax revenue. That is a 17.8 percent increase from the $807,692 collected in 2024. 

TEXAS COUNTY

For Texas County, merchants collect three half-cent sales taxes. Each totaled roughly $115,618, up about $7,005 each from the same period a year ago.

The sales tax on online and out-of-state sales totaled $120,996, up $16,042.

Revenue from a three-eighths-cent sales tax earmarked for law enforcement totaled $78,537, which was up $4,420 for the month. 

In 2025, Texas County collected $6,515,562 in sales tax revenue. That is a 4.1 percent increase from the $6,257,939 collected in 2024.
