State Rep. Bennie Cook recently presented the Houston High School Tiger mascot with a Show-Me America 250 commemorative T-shirt, recognizing school pride while highlighting Missouri’s role in the statewide effort leading up to the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
The presentation was part of the Show-Me America 250 initiative, which honors Missouri’s history, celebrates community pride and encourages civic engagement as the nation prepares to mark this historic milestone. By recognizing students, schools and local traditions, the initiative helps inspire young Missourians to take pride in their communities and understand their role in the state’s and nation’s future.
“Houston schools represent the best of our rural communities – strong traditions, school spirit and a commitment to excellence,” Cook said. “It was an honor to present this America 250 shirt to the Houston Tigers and recognize the students and educators who help shape the next generation of Missourians.”
America 250 commemorates the signing of the Declaration of Independence and serves as a reminder of the values that have guided the nation for two and a half centuries. Missouri’s participation in the celebration emphasizes education, unity and an enduring legacy for future generations.
Cook, a Republican, represents Texas, Maries and Phelps counties (District 143) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was first elected in 2020.
