The Houston Area Chamber of commerce hosted a ribbon cutting Thursday at the new Choices for People office on Grand Avenue in downtown Houston.

Choices for People was started by a grassroots organization in 1957, as the Rolla Cerebral Palsy School. It was created to fill a need for services for the disabled. A group of members and families from the community came together to provide services that were not available at the time.
In 1992, the name was changed to Choices for People and focus was targeted toward adults who needed services. These services include Community Services, Day Services, Employment Services and Residential Services.

The mission statement on the organization’s website is, “Through personalized care, meaningful support, and the strength of community, we empower individuals with disabilities to live fully, connect deeply, and grow with purpose.”

Choices for People is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation based at 1840 Route 72 East in Rolla. It serves 31 counties in Missouri and assisted 350 individuals in 2025.
