A public hearing about parking in the downtown Houston business district was held Tuesday before a meeting of the Houston City Council.

With about 25 in attendance, it was determined that narrowing the city’s two-hour parking limit to Monday through Friday during business hours is ideal. The two-hour limit is currently on Grand Avenue from Mill Street to Main Street, and a small section of First Street.

It was also determined that parking around the Piney Inn and Houston Senior Center is an issue. The council will develop a plan to address the issue of inn residents leaving vehicles on the street for long periods of time.

Currently, if law enforcement sees a vehicle that has been parked for an extended period of time, a note will be left on the windshield. If the vehicle is still there two hours later, a ticket is issued.
