An officer was injured late Friday night following a chase that ended in Licking, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Cpl. Jacob Sellars said a 1998 Lincoln Town Car driven by a 44-year-old Houston man was being pursued when it lost control, spun 180 degrees and accelerated toward a 2016 Ford Explorer driven by the officer. At the time, Sellars said the law enforcement officer’s vehicle was stopped or nearly stopped. The Lincoln struck the Explorer and a stack of pallets on Green Street before coming to rest.

The officer, a 37-year-old Houston man, was taken by private vehicle to Texas County Memorial Hospital with minor injuries.

Both vehicles were towed to Houston at the request of a Texas County deputy.

The SUV had extensive damage; the Lincoln had moderate damage.

The 10:32 p.m. incident remains under investigation, and more details will be released later.
