Members of the Texas County Commission held meetings Jan. 21 and 22 to handle area matters. 

MEETING ITEMS

  • An employee handbook update and the 2026 budget were discussed. 
  • A road maintenance agreement with Carroll Township was approved.
  • The assessor and collector discussed a messaging system for their offices. 
  • Commissioners met with South Central Ozarks Council of Governments (SCOCOG) representatives concerning 2026 road projects. 
  • Sally Connor was appointed as a Lynch Township board member after commissioners received a notice of vacancy due to resignation. 
  • Taylor Clinton, assessor, met with the commission to discuss her office’s 2026 budget. The hiring date of Leasa Cooper in the assessor’s office changed to Feb. 3. 
  • Commissioners acknowledged the hiring of Aaron Samora-Johnson as a full-time jail deputy effective Jan. 21. The sheriff also discussed the budget for his office.
  • The hiring of Julie Hale as a part-time employee in the maintenance department effective Jan. 26 was acknowledged. 
  • Brent Honeycutt, coroner, discussed his office’s 2026 budget with commissioners. 
  • The commission met with about 20 residents concerning the legal process to change roads in Golden Hills from private to public.
