Tpr. T.L. Sullivan said a northbound 2007 Dodge Dakota operated by a 78-year-old driver swerved to miss a deer, ran off the roadway and struck a fence and tree. Several first responders helped search for the accident site.

The man, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by ambulance to Texas County Memorial Hospital in Houston.

The vehicle was totaled in the crash about 13 miles south of Yukon.
