Houston High School senior Warren Hinkle accomplished a first in the history of the district’s welding program: an individual welding title.

Hinkle topped the field at last week’s SKILLS USA district competition to qualify for state. 

He will be joined by the HHS fabrication team, which placed second to advance to state for the fourth straight year. This year’s team is comprised of Eli Newsome, Blake Talbott and Austin Elliott.

Houston’s welding program is instructed by Adam Vandiver.
