A retirement ceremony for Brad Eidson, Texas County associate circuit judge, was held Friday, Feb. 20.

Eidson, who turned 70 on Feb. 22, vacated the position due to age, a state statute requirement. 

The governor’s office does not plan to appoint anyone to the office until after the August and November elections, according to sources. The 25th judicial circuit presiding judge will staff the position, a common occurrence among vacancies at the associate judge position across the state.

Parke Stevens Jr., prosecuting attorney, has filed as a candidate in the August primary election for the position.
