A free workshop in advance of a later production of “Annie” is planned from 2 to 5 p.m. March 28 in Cabool, the STARS Foundation announced.

It invites youth and adults from Cabool, Houston, Mountain Grove and surrounding communities to the free event at the Opus building at 208 Route 181. It will help participants prepare for open auditions slated for April 17. The production is June 25-27 at the Melba Performing Arts Center in Houston. No prior experience or current STARS enrollment is required.

Designed to be beginner-friendly, the workshop will offer guidance on song selection, audition confidence and what to expect during the audition process. Organizers encourage anyone curious about theater — from first-timers to seasoned performers — to attend.

“We are excited to bring back one of our large productions that previously sold out and welcomed more than 1,200 audience members,” said Rebecca Peterson, executive director of the STARS Foundation.

This open call continues the STARS Foundation’s mission to provide high-quality fine arts opportunities in rural Missouri, building on past productions, variety shows and holiday concerts, she said.
