A prison-made knife was recovered from an inmate at the South Central Correctional Center, records show.
Leslie Hanks, born in 1985, is charged with a class B felony.
The weapon, according to a report, was found in July 2025 in a sock during a strip search. It was 7 inches long and made of metal sharpened to a point. The sides were sharp and had a cloth handle made from black string.
A check of email systems and phone records showed Hanks admitted he had been caught with a knife.
A prison investigator filed the report on Feb. 24, and charges were filed March 12.
