Roger Burgess Credit: TEXAS COUNTY JAIL

A Licking man is charged after he fled rapidly during a traffic stop by the Houston Police Department.

Roger E. Burgess, born in 1966 and a resident of Lotz Drive, is charged with resisting arrest and driving while revoked/suspended, both class E felonies.

Burgess, authorities said, was the driver of a vehicle on Feb. 20 that was stopped on Oak Hill Drive. As an officer approached the stationary vehicle, it sped away. Burgess was later found by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department, and he was the subject of a pursuit.

That stop led to a felony drug trafficking charge, and a controlled substance was allegedly found.

Burgess is held on a $5,000 cash bond in the city case.
