HHS senior Kynlee Weaver throws the javelin Thursday at the Zizzer Relays in West Plains. She won, marking her fourth victory of the season in the event.

The two Houston High School track and field squads continued their 2026 seasons Thursday (April 16) in the annual Zizzer Relays at West Plains.

The HHS girls placed fifth in a deep and talented field of 18 teams, while the boys were 15th out of 20. West Plains took first in both the girls and boys standings.

Junior Adyson Dailing had another big day for the Lady Tigers, winning the 300-meter hurdles (in school record time again), while also placing in the top-4 in three other events. Houston got one other event victory, as senior Kynlee Weaver topped a tough field in javelin.

HHS senior Kayla Wagner came in second in the 400-meter dash, posting her first-ever time under a minute and setting a school record.

HHS senior Kayla Wagner runs on the track at West Plains on Thursday. She set a school record in the 400-meter dash with her first-ever time under a minute.

Dailing and Wagner now both sit at the top of the district and sectional rankings in their signature events – Dailing in the 300-meter hurdles and Wagner in the 400-meter dash.

Freshman Lyla Huffman – one of the top distance runners in the region – didn’t run due to health issues.

“That was a great result from a shorthanded team,” said HHS head coach Mike Tottingham. “It’s always a great season when athletes are hitting season goals halfway through the year.”

Weaver has now taken first in javelin four times this season.

“She has thrown really consistently all season,” Tottingham said, “and I honestly feel that we have not seen her best throw of the year yet.”

Houston junior Hally Scheets tied for second in the high jump and has finished in the top-5 in the event at every meet this year.

“In any other season, we would be talking her accomplishments up every chance we got,” Tottingham said. “Finishing second at a meet like this is a big deal, and she doesn’t need much improvement to have a shot at the school record.”
