The kindergarten classes at Plato sponsored their eighth annual Kindness Tea on Friday, May 1, with their teachers Amy Hathaway and Sharon O’Quinn.

Throughout the year, the kindergarten through fifth grade students send about 250 letters to “elderly” community members and other family and friends, along with another 250 cards that are sent to Texas County Memorial Hospital and nine nursing homes.

Once a year, the kindergarten class invites friends to school. The students decorate and set up the gym with their “mini me” and writings. They put tables in place to make a coloring station, a reading corner and a luncheon area.

The luncheon is prepared by Morgan Breedlove’s FACS class and funded by Thrivent Action Teams. As the guests leave, they received a hospitality gift and a flower.
