The Houston softball team advanced to the district championship game with an 11-4 win over Potosi in Mondayโ€™s Class 2 District 3 semifinals.

The top-seeded Lady Tigers (17-7) will play No. 3 -Bourbon in the championship game at 4 p.m. Wednesday.

T7 – Game ends

Inning starts with walk and hit batter. Potosi scores twice on double and groundout but game ends when Koch catches pop-up. HHS 11-4

McNiell hit by pitch for third time and scores on wild throw as Evans reaches on error. Houston strands runners on second and third. 11-2 HHS

McNiellโ€™s 14 hit by pitches this season is tied for the 7th most in state history.

T5 – Another scoreless frame

Kincaid works around one-out single. Benoist records pair of outs with strong throws to first. Two runs will end the game. 10-2 HHS ๏ฟผ

B4 – 2-out rally

Evansโ€™ two-out single scores McNiell, who reached when she was hit by a pitch for the 13th time this season. Gilbert followed with a single up the middle to score Kincaid, who walked, and Evans to make it 7-2.

Koch singles home Gilbert. Cook follows with a hard grounder that the shortstop canโ€™t handle to plate two more runs. HHS sends 9 batters to plate and scores six times with two outs. 10-2 HHS

T4 – Web gem

McNiell makes a diving catch of a pop-up at home plate to end 1-2-3 inning. Koch previously caught a line drive and threw a runner out on a ground ball. 4-2 HHS

Koch singles with two outs, but left stranded. 4-2 HHS

T3 – Potosi answers

Potosi takes advantage of two walks and hit batter with run-scoring double and single to cut the deficit in half. Houston limits damage as Benoist guns down runner at the plate on hard grounder with one out. 4-2 HHS

B2 – First on board

Claire Benoist reaches on an infield single and eventually scores on an error for gameโ€™s first run. Cook comes home on fielderโ€™s choice, McNiell lays down sacrifice bunt and Kincaid follows with RBI double. 4-0 HHS

Kincaid gets a pair of infield pop-ups and ground ball to short for a 1-2-3 inning. 0-0

B1 – Scoreless for Lady Tigers

McNiell reaches on hit by pitch but later thrown out stealing third – breaking a string of 65 straight steals. Itโ€™s tied for the third longest streak in state history. 0-0

T1 – HHS works around mistakes

Houston commits error and drops pickoff throw but works around pair of baserunners for scoreless inning. 0-0
