Mary “Rosalee” Jones, of Cabool, Missouri, gained her angel wings and went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday May 14, 2026, at the Kabul Nursing Home in Cabool.
Rosalee was born on Dec. 29, 1930, in Dixon, Missouri, the youngest of six children, to Elmer Washington Slone and Elva Brooks McCubbin Slone. They moved to Ulman, Missouri when she was 10 months old as her dad had bought a feed mill.
She was a lifelong learner, she started school at 4 years old, because all the other kids were going and she wanted to go too, and they weren’t going without her. She attended Ulman School through the eighth grade. She graduated from Brumley High School at 16 years old.
She moved to Kansas City when she was 18 and went to work at National Bellas Hess. While in Kansas City, she married Donald Earl Jones on Oct. 3, 1949. They moved to Tyrone, Missouri in the summer of 1956 after buying a rural milk route where they eventually bought a farm. Rosalee then went to work for The Bank of Houston, where she worked and retired after 35 plus years.
Rosalee was an avid gardener, who loved her flowers and working in the yard. Her family knew that she also loved her chocolate and cookies and coffee. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and especially crocheting. She loved turkey hunting with Donald, and on her first hunt she shot a turkey.
Rosalee was a member of the Nagel Christian Church for over 60 years, where she enjoyed the church dinners and always provided a broccoli and bacon salad. Her faith and love of God and the gospel was of the most importance to her.
She was an active member of the Tyrone community for over 60 years, where she served on the Tyrone Fire Department board as treasurer for 12 years and helped establish the community building from the existing country elementary school. She also worked with Cass Township for several years. Rosalee enjoyed helping community members with grocery shopping, doctor appointments or wherever she could help someone.
Rosalee was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt and friend to many.
Rosalee was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Donald; two brothers, Charles and Carl Slone; three sisters, Lela Feldpush, Edna Helen Jones and Gladys Slone; one niece, Brenda Jones; and two nephews, Jimmy and Johnny Feldpush. Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026, with services following at 1 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
