The Houston Middle School baseball team earned its first victory of the program’s inaugural season with a convincing 13-3 win Friday against Mansfield.

The Tigers also won the ‘B’ game 3-2.

Danny Venable had two of the Tigers’ five hits in the ‘A’ game victory. He scored three times.

Houston (1-1) jumped ahead 4-0 after two innings. After Mansfield scored three times in the third, the Tigers answered with six runs.

Garyn Hall, Xavier Fowler and Kaiden Wantland also had hits for Houston. Hall stole two bases.

Hall struck out six of the 18 batters he faced in the complete-game victory. He allowed five hits and three earned runs.

In the B game, Nicholas Cope ended the game with a walkoff hit. Cope had a pair of hits and knocked in two runs.

The team is coached by Rodney Preheim.
