Howard Samuel Ryno, 89, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 28, 2018, at Phelps County Memorial Hospital.
He was born Feb. 8, 1929, in Blooming Rose, son of William Claud and Inez Emma Lee Ryno. He and Carolyn Jane Ritz were married Aug. 23, 1952.
He graduated from Licking High School. He built the family home in Palace where he and his wife, Carolyn, raised their children for most of their married life.
He accepted Christ as his Savior during a brush arbor meeting at Democrat Ridge Church while in his teens.
He worked many jobs, which gradually led him to his job at Fort Leonard Wood as a food service manager for AAFES. He retired in 1971 after 31 years of service.
He later worked with Roby Auction Service. He and Carol operated Howard’s House in Licking for 20 years before closing.
He loved spending time at auctions with his son, Terry, and talking about tools and pricing items with his other son, Dennis. He also enjoyed coaching his granddaughter’s softball team with his daughter, Pam.
He liked the outdoors, hunting and fishing. He loved traveling with his wife, Carolyn, and often included other family members on their trips to many states. He loved to camp.
He was proceeded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harvey Ryno, Wendall Ryno, William Ryno, Arlie Ryno; and a sister, Vergena Keaton.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Carolyn of Plato; two sons, Terry Ryno of Louisburg and Dennis Ryno of Plato; a daughter, Pamela Hutsell of Waynesville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, other family members and friends.
Services were Sunday, March 4, at Fox Funeral Home. Burial was in Palace Cemetery.
