Anzel Van Shoults, 80, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2017, at Ozarks Medical Center, West Plains.

He was born May 26, 1937, in Hartshorn, daughter of Elmer James and Audrey (Briggs) Shoults.

He attended school at Black Valley in Hartshorn. He attended and was a member of Valley Center Church. In later years, he attended Hartshorn Assembly of God Church.

He worked in the timber cutting cord-wood until his health declined and he became disabled.

He enjoyed squirrel hunting and being outside in the woods.

He lived at Mountain View Health Care the past 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three siblings, Denver Shoults, Marcella Wilcox and Donald “Dee” Shoults; and a nephew Jason Shoults.

Survivors include six siblings, Charley Shoults of Summersville, Darlene Pethrus of Ventura, Calif., Acleda Menz of Raymondville and James Shoults, David Shoults and Frankie Shoults of Hartshorn; and many other family members.

Services were Sunday, Nov. 5, at Valley Center Church with the Rev. Steve Steelman officiating. Burial was in Valley Center Cemetery under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
