The following are excerpts from reports generated by the Houston Police Department:

• James E. Burris III, 22, of 313 Holt St., was arrested July 4 and charged with resisting by fleeing. Burris, who had warrants for his arrest, fled from a Houston officer who spotted Burris on his front porch and attempted to arrest him. Burris was later located exiting a wooded area nearby and taken into custody. Burris had an active warrant from the City of Licking for driving while intoxicated. Authorities said while interviewed, he also admitted burglary and vehicle theft cases being investigated by local departments. He was unable to post bond and held at the Texas County Jail.

• Roy Atkinson Jr., 48, of 300 Ozark St., was cited July 4 with discharging fireworks within the city limits. The officer said he had warned Atkinson a few days earlier not to set off fireworks.

• Matthew J. Ramsey, 30, of 16490 Hog Creek Road, was arrested July 4 and charged with driving while suspended. Officers aware of Ramsey’s warrant for the offense observed Ramsey driving on Grand Avenue. He was taken to the Texas County Jail.

• Ray Calvin Fields, 51, of 102 Ozark Terrace in Houston, was arrested July 4 on a Lawrence County warrant for non-support. He was taken to the Texas County Jail, where he posted $500 bond and was released.

• Jamie A. Bolden, 33, of 319 Chestnut St. in Houston, is charged with third-degree domestic assault after allegedly striking a relative July 1 while arguing over pills. He faces another charge for possessing the pills while being processed at the jail.

Officers responded to reports of a screaming woman who came running to their vehicle with fresh blood on her face and clothing as well as what appeared to be an open wound on her forehead. The woman initially said while arguing with the suspect as he tried to take her purse, she had fallen and struck her head on a plant stand. She later said he had punched her.

Police arrested Jamie Bolden later that afternoon while responding to reports of a fight at a Houston gas station. Bolden was involved in the incident with another male.

Bolden told police he and the victim had argued over a syringe that he wanted from her. He said he did not strike her.

Authorities re-interviewed the victim at Texas County Memorial Hospital and photographed her injuries. The victim said the suspect grabbed for her purse after she refused to give him her medication. She said he slapped her and then punched her.

Jamie Bolden was taken to the Texas County Jail for a 24-hour hold pending application for a warrant. While being processed, jail personnel discovered a metal canister of pills and contacted Houston police. The responding officer said there were 27 blue pills that appeared to be ones he had taken from the victims after allegedly assaulting her.

Bolden was subsequently charged with delivery or possession of a controlled substance at a jail without a written prescription.

• Christopher James Daugherty, 29, of Summersville, was arrested July 1 as police officers conducted a search at 313 Holt St. in Houston. Daugherty faced a warrant for possession of drug paraphernalia. He was unable to post $250 bond and taken to the Cabool City Jail due to insufficient room at the Texas County Jail.

• Joshua Scott, 26, of Norwood, was charged with possession of marijuana following a June 28 traffic stop on Sam Houston Blvd. The arresting officer said he observed Scott with dilated pupils and after receiving consent to search his vehicle, located a L-shaped smoking device and clear cylinder containing marijuana. He was cited and released.

• Tyler Austin Burris, 18, of 16375 Forrest Drive in Houston, was arrested June 30 for driving while intoxicated, minor in possession of alcohol and exceeding the posted speed limit by 11-15 mph. Burris was stopped at 1:33 a.m. on Dewey Street after an officer observed him traveling 35 mph in a 20 mph zone. The officer said he smelled alcohol from inside Burris’ truck and located 13 unopened cans of beer in a cooler in the bed of the truck. He said Burris, who said he had been at a friend’s birthday party, failed a series of field sobriety tests. His blood alcohol level was .195, more than twice the legal limit.

He was taken to the Texas County Jail for a six-hour hold.

• Samantha Lee Burleson, 39, of 27 Cabool Apt. Drive in Cabool, was charged June 22 with stealing –– fourth or subsequent stealing offense within 10 years –– following an incident at Walmart. Houston police contacted the Cabool Police Department after reviewing security footage showing

Burleson place $124.99 worth of items inside multiple storage containers and not paying. Burlson admitted to taking the items, which were returned to Walmart. A report was sent to the county prosecutor.

• Timothy S. Edwards, 46, of 8550 Highway E, was charged with stealing under $750 from Walmart on June 13. Police said they were contacted by an employee who said while reviewing security footage, she observed Edwards not pay for a Wifi camera, USB cable and shrub while using self-checkout. During an interview, Edwards admitted to the thefts and said he no longer had the items. He was fingerprinted and released.

Walmart requested restitution of $60 for the items.
