Houston's city government discussed its spending plan for 2018 during a meeting Monday at Houston City Hall. 

Houston’s new city administrator began duties on Monday  and an open house is planned the today (Tuesday) to introduce her to the public.

The 1 p.m. event is at the Houston Storm Shelter at First and Pine streets in Houston. Before the open house, Tona Bowen will be introduced to the city’s workforce.

Bowen, a Simmons resident, was hired last month by the Houston City Council. She was a financial official with the Missouri Department of Transportation in Jefferson City.

Bowen’s responsibilities will include managing the city’s 25 employees and development of the budget. She’ll also have economic development responsibilities.
