The Houston baseball team’s 2017 season is over.
At least the official part.
The Tigers lost their district opener 10-0 Friday to Licking in the Class 3 District 10 tournament.
HHS finished with a 5-18 record, but one more game remains. The Tigers will play an exhibition game at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 28, against Heritage (Ill.) at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. The game was previously postponed by rain.
Houston managed just four hits – all singles – in the season finale. It was the fifth time the Tigers were shut out this season. Two were by Licking.
Gavin Alston, Sterling Jackson, Nick Swanson and Riley Cavaness had Houston’s hits.
Braedin Groff went two innings in the defeat. He gave up six hits and three runs – two earned – while walking four and striking out three.
