Heavy weekend flooding led to structure damage and power outages in the City of Houston.

City Administrator Larry Sutton said bridges at the east end of Main Street and Hawthorn were undermined by water runoff and will require shot rock and concrete to save them. A wall on the east side of Brushy Creek that was built in the 1980s was severely damaged, Sutton said, and needs to be replaced. Runoff gravel and debris cleanup will also be addressed throughout the city.

The city’s water treatment plant has one pump out, Sutton said. The city hopes to receive another by the end of the week. Around the facility, Sutton said there was “lots of damage and debris cleanup that needs to be done.” A fence along the Brushy Creek walking trail was wiped out. Storm water entered the sewer in line three places Sutton said, and floated off the manhole covers.

There were nine power outages Friday night and Saturday during the strongest portions of the weekend storm. Both residential and commercial properties were affected.
