Helen Marie Donaway, 95, of Cabool, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2017.
She was born April 20, 1921, in Bettendorf, Iowa, daughter of Zuzi and Martin Mizlo. She and Earl Donaway were married in 1941.
She and her husband, Earl, eventually settled in Cabool, living on a farm in the Bado community.
She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She had served as a volunteer for Texas County Memorial Hospital and also for the VFW in Cabool.
She suffered from Alzheimer’s disease in the last few years and for the last months resided at Kabul Nursing Home.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl; a granddaughter; two sisters; and four brothers.
Survivors include her children, Fred of Cabool, Anne Rastorfer of Kansas City, Joe of Kansas City, Kan., Liz Shattuck of Prescott Valley, Ariz., and Earl of Lakeland, Fla; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and many other family members.
Services were Saturday, April 1, at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Cabool. Burial was in Bado Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home of Cabool.
