Dennis Wayne Mansfield, 67, passed away Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at his home in Houston after a long struggle with Alzhiemer’s disease.
He was born March 3, 1950, in Broseley, son of Earl and Betty Mitchell Mansfield. He and Karla Bates Easley were married March 3, 1996, in Success.
He was saved July 1, 2001 and baptized July 8. He became a member and deacon of Union Free Will Baptist Church of Success. He also served as a trustee for Sunset Lane Cemetery.
He graduated from Houston High School in 1968.
He worked as a machinist in Rockford, Ill., after graduation. He returned to Houston and opened Oakhill Garage, which he owned and operated for 32 years.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting and baseball. He helped coach the H.D. Lee Women’s baseball team in 1970s.
He loved to visit with family and friends. He loved his dog, Sugar.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Garry Mansfield and Perry Mansfield.
Survivors include his wife, Karla of Houston; two stepsons, Michael Easley and Dennis Easley of Springfield; two grandchildren; two sisters, Frankie Topping and Marilyn Schultz of Houston; and many nieces and nephews.
Services were Tuesday, March 21, at Evans Funeral Home with Marcus Kinserlow and Rick Williams officiating. Burial was in Sunset Lane Cemetery.
