Shirley Jean Patton, 77, passed away Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at her home in Warrenton.

She was born April 1, 1939, in Round Springs, daughter of Earl and Hazel Campbell Banks. She and Vernon Hershel Patton were married June 28, 1955, in Salem. He passed away Jan. 27, 2008.

She enjoyed singing and playing the banjo. She loved doing puzzles and going on float trips on the Current River. She also enjoyed being with her family, especially her great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Vernon; her parents; a daughter, Pamela North; two sisters, Betty Boyet and Carol Smith; and a brother, John Banks.

Survivors include a son, James Rick Patton; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; a sister, Kathleen Martin; two brothers, Harold “Wendy” Banks and James “Kenny” Banks; and many other relatives and friends.

Services were Sunday, March 26, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jerry Baylock officiating. Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.
