Doyle Alfred Lay, 72, passed away Thursday, Sept. 29, 2016, at Licking Park Manor.

He was born May 13, 1944, in Tyrone, son of Perry Oscar and Dora Margaret Frame Lay.

He grew up in Tyrone and school at Grandview until the eighth grade.

He built fences for neighbors, trimmed trees, cut wood, logged and enjoyed helping others.

He loved playing pool, visiting with family and friends and taking care of loved ones.

He accepted the Lord Jesus Christ into his heart and his life a few months passing away.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Phyllis Decker, Louise Aldridge and Priscilla Jones; and an infant son, Doyle Alfred Lay Jr.

Survivors include two sisters, Barbara Stevenson and Premella Neal; seven children, Rob Neal, Shoanna Neal, Carolyn Smith, Teressa Shriver, Robert Lay, Cheyenne and Shasta Atkisson; 24 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Wonder.

A celebration of life is 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Tyrone Community Church with a family dinner to follow. His body was donated to the Medical Education and Research Institute of Memphis, Tenn.

Services were under the direction of Evans Funeral Home.
