A grocery tour this month in the region will teach attendees how to save money and buy good foods while also providing tasty and healthy recipes.
“Cooking Matters at the Store” is set for 10 a.m. to noon and 1-3 p.m. Aug. 25 at Country Mart Supermarket in Mountain Grove. Registration is required through the Wright County Extension Office by calling 417-547-7545.
Two members of the University of Missouri Extension will teach about buying fruits and vegetable on a budget, how to compare unit prices to find bargains, reading and comparing good labels, how to identify whole grains and sticking to your budget.
Following the tour, attendees will receive a free reusable grocery bag, workbook of recipes, sample tips on buying healthy and low-cost foods as well as a $10 gift card. Space is limited. Participation will be allowed on a first-come basis.
