50 years ago, downtown Houston retailer, Houston TV, was marking the sale of refrigerators that featured automatic ice makers. The ad for the appliance — priced at 99.95 with trade — noted that residents no longer needed to fill up trays with water to create ice cubes. The appliances included the feature that automatically dispensed the cubes.
