Revenue received in the first month of the year from the City of Houston’s sales tax dipped about 5.7 percent from the same period a year ago, the Missouri Department of Revenue said.
Merchants collected $53,108 from a one-cent sales tax, which was down $3,189 from the same period a year ago.
Retailers also collected two quarter-cent sales taxes for roads, sidewalks and utilities. Each contributed $12,886 for the month.
An eighth-cent sales tax for debt retirement on a fire truck totaled $6,443.
