LaReta Lay Holland, 81, passed away Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016, after a long battle with Alzheimers.

She was born April 30, 1934, in Eunice, daughter of Walter and Opal Lay. She and Paul Dean Holland were married April 30, 1955.

She was two years old when her mother passed away and went to live with her aunt and uncle, Earl and Dessie Mayfield until she was an adult.

She was a member of South Haven Baptist Church since 1972. She loved her Sunday school class that she attended for many years.

She loved to spend time with family, fish and attend Missouri State Bears and Lady Bears basketball games.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a baby sister; and her stepmother.

Survivors include her husband, Paul; two daughters, Deanna Loudis and Alicia Holland; two grandchildren; and a great-grandson.

Services were Thursday, Jan. 28, at Greenlawn Funeral Home South in Springfield.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
