Sales tax revenue was down in Houston during the latest monthly distribution.

Sales tax revenue collected by Houston merchants dipped under the last monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue.

The total from a one-cent sales tax was $65,579, which is down $1,551 from the same period a year ago.

Through August, $480,002 has been collected. That’s up about 3.2 percent — or $14,987 — from a year ago.

Revenue from two, eighth-cent taxes each totaled $16,076, down about $178 from the same monthly period a year ago. An eighth-cent sales tax generated $8,038 for debt repayment on a fire truck.
