Loweta Fern Downey, 75, passed away Sunday, Sept. 20, 2015, following a lengthy illness.
She was born June 25, 1940, in Bennett, Texas, daughter of John L. McCoy and Dorothy A. Parsley. She and Leslie Eugene Downey were married Nov. 14, 1977.
She enjoyed storytelling and the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing. She loved her family and animals.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Leslie; three brothers, Herman McCoy, Johnny McCoy, and Allen Jeffrey McCoy; two sisters Reba Barnard and Linda Dubois; and a grandson.
Survivors include three children, Jackie Goodreau of Perrnin, Texas, Vickie Willis of Mountain View and Leslie Downey Jr. of Alton; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of family members.
Private memorial services will be held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Bradford Funeral Home.
