The City of Houston is seeking federal funding to construct an industrial building at its new Northeast Industrial Park off North U.S. 63.
An application is before the federal Economic Development Administration’s Denver office that would:
•Involve the purchase of a five-acre parcel of property and the development of building site that would include about 40,000 square foot of manufacturing space with loading docks and about 60 parking spaces.
The project site is east of the Houston Area Chamber of Commerce Fairgrounds.
In 2010, the City of Houston began work to develop a 57-acre tract in the northeast part of the community as an industrial park. Its West Highway 17 industrial park is fully occupied. Later it approved a $438,555 bid from a Nixa firm for sewer work in conjunction with the development of the area. Another phase included road extension work.
The project was completed using federal stimulus dollars remaining after finalization of the town’s new wastewater treatment plant and in-kind labor from the city.
