Texas County deputies recently handled several investigations.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A pair of deputies on Aug. 11 investigated a report of an assault at a Highway 137 residence at Licking.

A 51-year-old man who lives there told the officers a 28-year-old Raymondville man had assaulted him with brass knuckles. The man said the suspect came to the house and asked to speak to a woman who wasn’t there.

When the suspect was told to leave, he reportedly hit the man and then drove away quickly. A report was sent to the county prosecutor.

•A Houston woman reported at about 9:30 p.m. Aug.14 that a man was at her Forrest Drive residence who was drunk and causing problems. The man was gone when an investigating deputy arrived.

•A deputy on Aug. 6 investigated a report of a burglary at a Prescott Road property at Licking.

The officer made contact with a 67-year-old man who owns the property who stated a cabin attached to a barn had been broken into, and numerous items with a total value of $552 had been stolen. The officer observed a muddy footprint on a door to the cabin and a hole in the door.

There are no suspects.

•A Houston man reported Aug. 21 that he had loaned a car battery to a woman and she would not return it to his residence in a Morton Road trailer park. An investigating officer contacted the woman, and she said she had returned the battery.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 3:45 p.m. after a man reported seeing people walking along Highway B at Raymondville. The officer was unable to locate the people.

•A deputy was dispatched Aug. 16 regarding a report of tampering with a motor vehicle at a Highway AW residence at Plato.

A 39-year-old woman who lives there showed the officer several areas of damage that had been done to her 1999 Ford Mustang. The officer’s brief investigation revealed that most of the damage had been caused by the woman’s 19-year-old son, and she opted not to pursue charges.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 3:15 p.m. Aug. 14 regarding a report of gunfire at a Stone Drive residence at Mountain Grove. The officer reported hearing no gunshots.

•A deputy was dispatched at about noon Aug. 6 regarding a report of a man living in a cave on Mineral Spring Road at Houston. The officer made contact with the man and advised him he couldn’t live there, and gave him a phone number to a homeless shelter.

•A woman called Aug. 5 to ask what happened to all the flowers at the Long Hollow Cemetery at Bucyrus. An officer advised the woman to contact the groundskeeper, and that if they were stolen he would probably report it.
