Texas County deputies are investigating several crimes in the county.

The following are excerpts of reports generated by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department:

•A deputy was dispatched Aug. 2 regarding a report of property damage at a Nevill Road residence at Mountain Grove.

A 44-year-old man who lives there told the officer a crossbow arrow had been shot into the front of his house. The deputy observed about six inches of the shaft of an arrow sticking out of the front of the home near the front porch.

The man named five people as possible suspects, and stated the incident may have been a form of retaliation for something their 20-year-old son was involved in.

•A 64-year-old Licking man called July 30 to report that $500 cash and some prescription pills had been stolen from his Highway C residence.

The man gave a suspect’s name to an investigating deputy, and the deputy was told by a Licking police officer that the suspect had been located at a motel, but had fled on foot. The deputy later determined the suspect was a man who was known to be using his brother’s name because of active warrants. Investigation continues.

•A 77-year-old Elk Creek man reported July 31 that a neighbor man had dumped milk onto his property and the liquid had flowed onto the caller’s Swisher Road property and killed fish in ponds.

The man told an investigating deputy the neighbor had dumped three loads of milk over a three-week period. The officer observed where the milk had been dumped on top of a hill directly above three ponds.

The officer also observed a trail of dead vegetation where the liquid had run down the hill, and several inches of scum build-up on top of the ponds it encountered.

The man told the officer he had contacted several other state and county agencies about the matter, including the Missouri Department of Natural Resources, the Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas County Health Department. The deputy advised him to get an attorney to seek a civil remedy.

•A deputy was dispatched at about 1:40 a.m. July 24 regarding a report of a domestic disturbance at a Hattie Drive residence at Willow Springs.

Before arrival, the officer was advised that the 34-year-old man who was the victim was in the hospital at Mountain View. The officer went to the hospital and made contact with the man, who stated his 25-year-old girlfriend had hit him in the head with a coffee cup, but he didn’t want to pursue charges.
