Loy Edward Leek, 85, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015, at Houston House.
He was born Feb. 14, 1930, in Coin, Iowa, son of Walter and Melvin Purtle Leek. He and Vera Dixon were married in November 1973.
At age four, he and his parents moved to a farm in Graff. He was saved when he was 13-years-old at Union Chapel near Graff.
In 1945, he moved to West Boro and six years later joined the Air Force. He was stationed in England, Iceland, Vietnam and Korea. After 20 years of service, he retired and moved to Houston.
He was the head of maintenance for 15 years at the Texas County Memorial Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his parents and seven siblings, Monty, Johnny, James, Loren, Leroy Leek, Marjorie Long and Thelma Hutsell.
Survivors include his wife, Vera of the home; five stepchildren, Paul Dixon of Republic, Pam Lakins of Clever, Patti Murray of Bucyrus, and Peggy Seyler and Perry Dixon of Houston; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services were Thursday, May 28, at Evans Funeral Home with Paul Murray officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Pine Lawn Cemetery.
