Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, June 25, 2015, at Wildwood House of Prayer

Carl Gene Cummins, 78, was born Jan. 18, 1937, in a small bungalow east of Raymondville, Mo., to Otto and Mildred (Agee) Cummins. He left this world to be with our Lord on June 22, 2015.

Most of his life he lived in Texas County, Mo., along with his older brother, Earl, and younger sister, Bettie. He married Floisey Anita Brown on May 22, 1965, and together raised five children, Rick, Randy, Gary, Kathy and Tammi.

Preceding Carl in his passing were his father Otto; mother, Mildred; brother, Earl; and one granddaughter, April.

Surviving Carl are his wife of 50 years, Anita; son, Billy of Kansas City, Mo., son, Rick and his wife, Selena, of Fenton, Mo., son, Randy of Fenton, Mo., son. Gary and his wife, Pam, of Arnold, Mo.; daughter, Kathy and her husband, Brian, of West Plains, Mo., daughter, Tammi, of Houston, Mo.; along with 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Bettie Horton of Raymondville, Mo.

Carl worked for years at several different saw mills and pallet mills in the Raymondville area. For a short amount of time he moved the family to southern Arizona so he could work in the copper mines. He truly liked living there but his heart always belonged to Texas County and after a short amount of time, he and the family returned. He ended his labors at Brown Shoe Company in Houston after medical reasons stopped him from working.

Carl very much enjoyed taking care of his yard. He loved to get out on his riding lawnmower even in his ailing health he would get out and say, “I need to get those toe-catchers cut down.” Carl also enjoyed talking on his CB radio. He would spend hours and hours sitting and talking to people all over the country. “That skip is running good, I can talk all the way to New Mexico tonight” he would say. His CB handle was “Opossum.” His brother Earl’s handle was “Bird Dog” and they would talk for hours and hours. But more than anything he loved his grandchildren. After his retirement he would spend a lot of time just enjoying his grandchildren’s company. He truly loved his entire family to the ends of the earth and everyone will miss him.
