Texas County authorities said an 8-year-old Raymondville girl was hit by a stray bullet Saturday.
Sheriff James Sigman said in a press release that deputies responded to Texas County Memorial Hospital regarding a report of a girl brought in with a gunshot wound.
Investigation revealed the girl was apparently struck by a .22-caliber bullet that had ricocheted off of a tree and then traveled about 150 yards before traveling through a greenhouse and hitting her.
Sigman said the name of the person who shot the gun is not being released.
A report was sent to the county prosecutor for review and possible filing of criminal charges.
