Emergency agencies are seeking to update businesses contact numbers.

Several local public service agencies are seeking help from area businesses in order to compile a database of current contact information.

Houston Police Chief Jim McNiell said his department, the Texas County Sheriff’s Department and the Texas County 911 board would like businesses to submit the firm’s name, address, a contact name, business and emergency phone number and a cell phone number.

“This information is crucial information so the Houston Police Department, Texas County Sheriff’s Office, and 911 can have when officers check your business and need to contact someone due to an open or unlocked door,” McNiell said, “or if a report is received that an alarm is going off at your business and officers want to do a walk through to ensure it is safe for everyone.”

Business owners or representatives can send information by email to hpolice@houstonmo.org, or by mail to Chief Jim McNiell, Houston Police Department, 601 S. Grand Ave., Houston, Mo., 65483.

McNiell will compile an updated list and forward it to the sheriff’s department and 911.
