Charles Johnson

Charles Noble Johnson, 75, of Houston, Mo., passed away March 6, 2015, at Texas County Memorial Hospital, Houston, Mo. He was born Aug. 6, 1939, on the Sierra Vista Ranch, Tulare County, Calif., to Noble Doc Johnson and Sibyl Louise Mathis Johnson.

Charles graduated high school in 1958 at Ceres, Calif. He moved to the Elk Creek area in the late 1960s.

He married JoAnne (Lunbeck) Turnbough Johnson on June 16, 2006, in Eureka Springs, Ark.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Lori Marie Johnson; son, Stephen Lynn Johnson; and a sister, Barbara Dean Larsen.

He is survived by his wife of the home; daughter, Lisa Compton of Jasper, Alab.; son, Jeffrey Noble Johnson, Jasper, Alab.; stepchildren, Kandy lee Reiners and husband, Gary, of Success, Mo., Vicki Lynn Balangue and husband, Oscar, of Bainbridge Island, Wash., and Jeffrey Scott Turnbough and wife, Treva, of Grand Ridge, Fla.; three sisters, Louise Rodriguez of Meridian, Idaho, Charlene Francis and husband, Charles, of Boise, Idaho, and Darlene Lee and husband, Bill, of Emmett, Idaho; brother, Gerald Johnson and wife, Donna, of Las Vegas, Nev.; five grandchildren, Stephen and Justin Johnson of St. Louis, Mo., Terri Ann Royster of Tuscaloosa, Alab., Joe Royster of Jasper, Alab., and Samantha Shaw of Searcy, Ark.

Charles retired from Mid-America Dairymen Cabool, Mo., in 1999 after over 30 years of service. Charles loved to travel after retirement, especially going to Kingman, Ariz., in the winter. He also enjoyed playing the guitar and the keyboard. While his health permitted, he really enjoyed going all over to hear Southern Gospel groups. He went to McDonalds every morning that he could to have coffee and visit with all his friends. He was quite a prayer warrior and enjoyed reading his Bible every day. He attended Souls Harbor Family Worship.

Charles loved his family and will be sadly missed by all who knew him.

Services were 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 11, in Souls Harbor Family Worship with Dr. Cordie Wimberley and Pastor George Johnson officiating. Burial was in Oak Dale Cemetery, Simmons, Mo. Pallbearers were Bill Shaw, Joe Royster, Ross Olson, Scotty Howton, Frank Harris, Chris Reiners, Gary Reiners and Jeff Turnbough.
