Military veteran

Robby Gail Hanson, 76, of Mountain Grove, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 4, 2015, at Cox South in Springfield after a brief illness.

He was born July 15, 1938, near Upton, son of Jessie and Addie Campbell Hanson. He and Rosie Lee Eaton were married April 16, 1976.

Around the age of 12, he was saved at First Baptist Church Cabool. He attended Cabool High School until the 11th grade when he joined Air Force. He served until Feb. 28, 1963.

He enjoyed observing wildlife, playing bingo and watching NASCAR with his wife, Rosie. He loved to deer hunt, especially with his sons, grandsons and friends. He was a huge sports fan, especially the St. Louis Cardinals and Cabool Bulldogs football.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and four siblings, Johnnie Hanson, Rosa Lee Barlow, Norma Lee Simon and Lonnie Hanson.

Survivors include his wife, Rosie of the home; three sons, Austin Hanson of West Plains, Russell Hanson of St Charles and Jesse Hanson of Seymour; three daughters, Julie Edwards of Mississippi, Tammy Stringer of Texas and Tina Rust of Cabool; two brothers, Kenneth Hanson of Wisconsin and Jimmy Hanson of Troy; a sister, Dora Bea Stadler of Houston; 16 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.

Services were Monday, Feb. 9, at First Baptist Church of Cabool with Bro. Bob Marti officiating. Burial with full military honors was in Hickory Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Elliott-Gentry-Carder Funeral Home.
