MARY LEMONSĀ 

Mary (Helton) Lemons, 90, of Wamego, Kan., passed away at her home Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2015.

Mary was born March 20, 1924, in Palace, Mo., to John and Minnie (Dye) Helton. She grew up in the Palace community, going to school and church, and was the last graduating class of Bloodland High School in 1941. She was united in marriage to Jake Shaver in Randolph in June of 1941. After a marriage of 32 years, Jake preceded her in death in May of 1973. In August of 1979, she was united in marriage with Charles Lemons, who preceded her in death in June of 1982.

Mary was a member of the order of the Eastern Star – Chapter #76 of Wamego, where she served as a worthy matron in 1965. She was also a member of the United Methodist Church of Manhattan.

She is survived by two sons, Mike Shaver (Shawn) of Wamego, Kan., and Greg Shaver (Jennifer) of Bella Vista, Ark.; two grandchildren, Michael and Melissa; and a great-grandchild, Smith.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Luther and Jay Lee; and her sister, Hazel.

Private family services will be held at a later date for Mary and cremation was under the direction of Stewart Funeral Home. Condolences for the family may also be left at www.stewartfuneralhomes.com.
