Texas County started the year with a 8.2 percent jump in sales tax revenue compared to the same monthly period in 2014.

Revenue collected by merchants in the county was down during the latest monthly distribution, reports the Missouri Department of Revenue. The tally for 2014 is up about 7 percent.

The total from three half-cent sales taxes was about $60,410 each. That was down about $2,865 on each tax from the same period a year ago. The funds are used for debt repayment on the justice center, general operations and maintenance.

For the year, about $575,000 has been collected in the first seven months of the year, the department of revenue reported.
