Houston Mayor Don Tottingham, center, watches as Durham Co. President Doug Russell and Houston Industrial Development Authority director Carl Honeycutt sign paperwork last Friday at the Houston City Hall transferring the deed to the south building at Durham's facility on Industrial Drive in from the city to the company. Looking on are, from left, Durham's Jenny Carr (who managed the Houston start-up at its outset), Durham Co. Executive Vice President G.T. Carr, Hiett Land and Title representative Kristi Stillwell, Honeycutt, Tottingham, Russell, Durham's Richard Peterson (general manager of the Houston location), and Houston City Council members Don Romines and Joe Honeycutt.

The Durham Co. has made the final payment in a 20-year lease-purchase agreement with the city of Houston on the first of two buildings at its complex on Industrial Drive in Houston.

After Houston constructed the building, Durham – based in Lebanon – entered into the agreement and opened its Houston location’s doors in May of 1994 with six employees. The company now employs about 170 people at its Houston branch.

An expansion of the north building at the Houston complex (which is still under a lease-purchase agreement) will begin soon.
