The following reports were generated last week by the Texas County Sheriff’s Department.
•A Cabool man called on Feb. 1 to report that a neighbor was cutting trees down on his Highway EE property. The man stated he just wanted the neighbor to be told to stop.
An investigating officer made contact with the neighbor, who said he would not cut down any more trees.
•A deputy was dispatched on Feb. 7 at about 8 p.m. to the Southern Inn on U.S. 63 in Houston to assist the Houston Police Department after a man reported that someone was outside his room. Officers were unable to locate a suspect.
•An officer was dispatched at about 7:30 p.m. Feb. 6 to an Indiana Road residence in Houston.
Upon arrival, the officer made contact with a man who lives there who stated he wanted the officer to make his wife give him his car keys. The officer advised the man he could not make her turn over the keys.
•A Plato man called at about 2:30 a.m. Feb. 8 to report that a neighbor was shooting a gun and keeping him awake. An investigating officer made contact with the neighbor and told him he didn’t need to be shooting at that hour.
•A 31-year-old man and 21-year-old woman came to the TCSD office on Feb. 7 and reported that a 35-year-old woman had stolen numerous items when she moved out of a rental property of theirs on Splitlimb Road at Raymondville. Goods the pair reported swiped had a total value of $395. They said the former tenant might be found at a Piney Drive trailer park, but an investigating officer didn’t find her there.
•Dugan C. Lewis, 26, of 1042 Highway 137 at Willow Springs, was arrested and issued a citation for possession of drug paraphernalia after an investigation at his home on Feb. 1.
An officer stated in a report that a Division of Family Services representative had called the TCSD recommending that an emergency investigation should take place at the residence. The officer and a DFS worker went to the location and were given permission to search by a woman who lives there.
The officer stated that Lewis – the woman’s husband – was inside the home at the time and acted aggressively during the search. A tin container was found containing a white residue that field tested positive for methamphetamine. The woman said it belonged to her husband and that he was the only one in the house who used meth. Other drug-related items were also reportedly found, including another tin container with eight small plastic bags containing meth.
Lewis was taken to the Texas County Jail and two children who live in the home were placed in the custody of their grandmother. The reporting officer stated another individual is also under investigation in the case.
•A 44-year-old Raymondville man reported on Feb. 5 that a toolbox containing tools valued at $1,729.26 had been stolen from his pickup truck while he was attending a party the previous night at a McColgin Road residence at Raymondville. The man named a 29-year-old Raymondville man as a suspect.
•A call was received from Burlington Northern – Santa Fe Railroad at about 3 a.m. Feb. 2 indicating a car was near the tracks off of Highway 60 in Cabool. An investigating officer observed that a car had apparently left the roadway and come to rest neat the tracks. No people were found near the scene. The Missouri State Highway Patrol was contacted.
•A 52-year-old Licking man called on Feb. 4 at about 9:45 a.m. to report he believed his 37-year-old son had been shot in the buttocks. An officer made contact with the son, who stated that he had not been shot but had been avoiding contact with his father due to civil matters.
•A Cabool woman called at about 12:10 a.m. Feb. 6 to report that 20 to 30 men wearing white had surrounded her Beeler Road property and were watching her. An investigating officer found no evidence that the men had been there.
