Phyllis Jean Patterson, 74, passed away Sunday, Feb. 16, 2014, at St. Anthony’s Hospital in St. Louis.
She was born April 3, 1939, near Summersville, daughter of Floyd E. and Mildred Ruth Halbrook Miller. She and Gene Patterson were married Sept. 25, 1954.
She attended First Baptist Church in Summersville as long as her health permitted.
In her early years she managed a Burger Chef, which is now know as Burger King. After she and her husband, Gene, moved to Summersville, she worked for home health for many years.
She enjoyed traveling and taking cruises. She loved to take her grandchildren on trips and often took them with her on cruises. Her favorite pastime was listening to country music. She loved to listen to local musicians and enjoyed going to the Summersville Opera. She enjoyed visiting with her friends when she was able to be out.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two children, Debora Jean and Bobby; two sisters, Shirley McClin and Sharon Fox; and a brother, Donald Miller.
Survivors include her husband, Gene of the home; a daughter, Brenda Barton of Redford; three grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
Services were Thursday, Feb. 20, at Bradford Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Tommy Boyd officiating.
