A Bucyrus man faces numerous charges after the Houston Police Department conducted a traffic stop early Saturday and found weapons and drugs, authorities said.

An officer made the stop on East Crest Drive after observing expired tags on a gray Jeep Cherokee turning from Highway 17 onto Lilly Avenue, and then watching it moving erratically before it finally stopped.

After making contact with Cody M. Bressie, 25, the officer observed nervous behavior and asked for and received consent to search the vehicle. The officer was joined at the scene by a second officer, and the search revealed multiple weapons, including a 9-millimeter handgun with a bullet in its chamber and a set of brass knuckles, along with a vial containing powder that a field test determined was methamphetamine. A smoking device and a dozen other bullets were also found, according to a report.

At the conclusion of the officers’ investigation, Bressie, of 10397 Prairie Road, was arrested and taken to the Texas County Jail. On Monday, County Prosecutor Mike Anderson filed charges against Bressie of possession of a controlled substance, unlawful use of a weapon, unlawful use of drug paraphernalia, no insurance, failure to register a motor vehicle and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway.

Bressie is held on $500,000 bond.
